Brutally cold but blissfully quiet—no tourists, no lines, just locals drinking coffee in cafés. Hotels drop to €80-120; perfect for budget souls who don’t mind jackets. Skip if you crave sunshine.
Too wet for anything but rain-soaked selfies. Carnaval’s fun, but it’s Lisbon’s least authentic version—mostly tourists in cheap costumes. Hotels stay high at €130-180; not worth the soggy shoes.
Golden light, nearly zero rain, and €100-140 hotels. Wander Alfama without crowds—locals are finally out of hibernation. Skip if you hate chilly mornings.
No rain, perfect temps, and Festa de Lisboa (Apr 15-20) kicks off with street parties. Hotels hit €110-160—still cheap for the magic. Families, book early; it’s that good.
Mild, sunny, and €120-170 hotels. Kids won’t melt in the sun, and beaches are calm. Skip if you hate crowds—May’s packed with families (and rightly so).
Long evenings, €140-190 hotels, and the city glows. Sunset at Castelo de São Jorge? Yes. Skip if you can’t handle buzzing streets (but you should).
Hot, dry, and €160-220 hotels—yes, it’s pricey. But the light? Unreal. Locals say "July’s magic" for a reason. Avoid if you hate heatwaves.
33°C, 300% more tourists, and hotels jump to €200-300. You’ll sweat through every street. Skip unless you’re into human sardines.
Still warm, €110-150 hotels, and festivals like Lisbon Film Festival (Sep 20-28) make it feel alive. Families? Yes. Crowds? Mild. Perfect.
Rain? Yeah, but it’s just a drizzle. Hotels drop 30% (€90-130), and locals open wine cellars for Festa da Cerveja. Skip if you need constant sun.
12°C, rain, and €120-170 hotels. Tourists flee, but locals huddle in cafés. Skip unless you’re into melancholic city walks (and even then, it’s bleak).
€130-180 hotels, but the city’s lit up like a Christmas card. Skip if you hate crowded markets—São Nicolau’s market is packed. Worth it for the lights.
April, May, and September. Perfect temps, minimal rain, and hotels under €150. You’ll pay 40% less than summer, with festivals to match. Avoid August—prices are brutal.
May and June. Mild weather, calm beaches, and events like Festa de Lisboa. Hotels stay affordable (€120-170), and kids won’t melt. Skip July/August—too hot, too crowded.
July and September. July’s golden light is unmatched (€160-220), but September’s cheaper (€110-150) with fewer crowds. Skip February—too wet, too few people to enjoy it.

Tram 28 is famous but packed — walk the same route instead, it's beautiful and downhill. Pasteis de Belem is worth the queue (the ones at the cafe, not the takeaway box). Time Out Market for lunch variety. The LX Factory is a converted warehouse area with great food and shops. Alfama at sunset with a ginjinha in hand — that's the real Lisbon.
