Day 1: South Coast Beaches & Santa Cruz Culture
Start at Playa de las Américas' golden sands – rent a beach umbrella for 5€ and swim in the calm Atlantic waters. Wander the promenade to see the iconic "El Duque" statue overlooking the sea. Grab a quick churros con chocolate at a sidewalk cafe near the beach for a 3€ breakfast.
Take a 10-minute bus (1.50€) to Costa Adeje. Explore the luxury marina, then head to the Las Galletas Beach for snorkeling (rent gear for 8€). Lunch at a seafood spot: order fresh grilled fish (pescado a la plancha) and tomato salad at a casual spot near the marina (15-20€ per person).
Drive 45 minutes to Santa Cruz de Tenerife (or take bus 101 for 2€). Stroll through Parque de la Cruz (free entry) to see the historic fountain and palm-lined paths. Dinner at a traditional Canarian tapas bar: try gofio (toasted grain) with tuna (pulpo a la gallega) and local red wine (25-30€ for two). End at the Auditorio de Tenerife for night views of the city lights – no entry fee.
Day 2: Teide Volcano & Highland Villages
Rent a car (50€/day) and drive 1 hour to Teide National Park. Hike the first 30 minutes to the volcano viewpoint (free entry, but 11€ parking fee). See the iconic peak (3,718m) and volcanic rock formations. Pack water and sunscreen – it's windy up here.
Head to the town of El Rosario (30 mins from park) for lunch at a family-run casa: order "puchero canario" (beef stew with local vegetables) and goat cheese (12€). Visit the 16th-century Iglesia de San Juan Bautista. Then drive 45 minutes to La Orotava Valley, stopping at the panoramic viewpoint of Los Guayres for sunset views.
Dinner in La Orotava's historic center: eat "ropa vieja" (slow-cooked beef) at a cozy spot on Plaza de España (18€). Walk the cobblestone streets to see the 1700s mansion Casa de los Capitanes. Return to your accommodation (or drive back to south coast if staying there – 1.5 hours, 30€ in fuel).
Day 3: Northern Coast & Anaga Rural Park
Take a 45-minute bus (2€) from Santa Cruz to Garachico (free entry to town). Explore the 16th-century lava-formed harbor, then hike the short path to the 18th-century Fortaleza de San José (free). Lunch at a beachside cafe: order "conejo en salmorejo" (rabbit stew) with fresh bread (10€).
Drive 1 hour to the start of Anaga
