Day 1: Roman Roots & Coastal Charm

Morning (9 AM - 12 PM): Pula Arena & Roman Forum
Start at the Pula Arena, the best-preserved Roman amphitheater in the world. It's a massive, stunning structure right in the city center. Buy your €10 ticket at the main entrance (opens 9 AM, avoid weekends if possible). Wander inside, feel the history, and climb the steps for great views. Then, head 5 minutes west to the Roman Forum (the ancient central square). See the remains of temples, a basilica, and the Temple of Augustus. It's quiet and atmospheric early in the day. Walk from the Forum to the City Walls (just past the Forum), walking the perimeter for views of the harbor and sea. Cost: €10 entry to Arena, free for walls/Forum. Transport: All within 10-15 min walk from each other.

Afternoon (1 PM - 4 PM): Harbor & Old Town Vibe
Stroll down to the Harbor Area (Porto Vecchio) for lunch. Grab a quick, fresh bite at the fish market stalls – think grilled squid or a simple fish sandwich for €5-7. Then, wander the Pula Old Town (the heart of the city, north of the harbor). Explore narrow streets lined with pastel buildings, small shops, and cafes. Stop at the Church of St. Euphemia (a beautiful, historic church on the main square) and admire the architecture. Head towards Trg Sv. Krševana (St. Krševan Square) for a coffee. Cost: €5-10 for lunch, €3-4 for coffee. Transport: 10 min walk from City Walls to Old Town.

Evening (6 PM onwards): Sunset & Dinner
Catch the sunset from the City Walls near the main gate – it’s a classic spot. Then, head to a local seafood restaurant (look for places near the harbor with outdoor seating). Order fresh grilled fish or a seafood stew. Try the local Istrian truffle dishes if they're on the menu. Finish with a sweet štruklji (a traditional dumpling) or local wine. Cost: €20-30 for a main course with wine. Transport: Short walk from Old Town to harbor restaurants.

Day 2: Beaches, Bays & Local Life

Morning (9 AM - 12 PM): Mala Uvala Beach & Roman Baths
Take a short 10-minute walk or a €2.50 bus ride (route 1) from the city center to Mala Uvala (Small Bay). This is a small, rocky beach perfect for a dip. Relax, swim, and enjoy the clear water. Then, head to the Well of the Sea (Fontana del Mare) near the old port – it’s a unique, historic well. Next, visit the Roman Baths (Terme), a small, well-preserved Roman bathhouse complex near the Pula Arena. It’s a bit off the main tourist path but worth it. Cost: Free entry to beaches/baths, bus €2.50. Transport: Bus 1 from Pula center to Mala Uvala (10 min ride).

Afternoon (1 PM - 4 PM): Velika Uvala & Local Market
Take a 15-minute walk or a quick €5 taxi ride to Velika Uvala (Big Bay), a larger, more popular beach with sandy shores. It’s a bit busier but perfect for swimming and relaxing. After, walk back into town to the Central Market (Trg Republike) for a taste of local life. Grab fresh cheese, olives, or Istrian ham. Find a small café here for a quick frutti di mare (seafood) salad. Cost: €3-5 for market snacks, €10-15 for salad. Transport: 15 min walk from Velika Uvala to market, or €5 taxi.

Evening (6 PM onwards): Istrian Cuisine & Nightlife
Dinner at a traditional Istrian restaurant (like one serving fuži pasta with truffles or peka – a slow-cooked meat and vegetable dish). These places often have a cozy, local feel. After dinner, walk along the Harbor Promenade for evening strolls, watch boats, and maybe grab a gelato. If you want to try the nightlife, head to a local bar near the harbor (not touristy clubs) for a drink and live music. Cost: €25-35 for a full meal with wine. Transport: Short walk from market to harbor.

Day 3: Culture, Markets & Sunset

Morning (9 AM - 12 PM): Pula Cathedral & Art Gallery
Start at the Pula Cathedral (Cathedral of St. Mary) – it’s a stunning blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, right in the heart of the old town. It’s peaceful and beautiful, especially in the morning light. Then, walk a few blocks to the City Art Gallery (Galerija Gradskog Muzeja) – it’s small but has great local and historical art. It’s open until 2 PM. Cost: Free entry to Cathedral, €5 for Art Gallery. Transport: 5 min walk between Cathedral and Art Gallery.

Afternoon (1 PM - 4 PM): Local Markets & Beach Time
Grab lunch at Trg Republike (Republic Square) – it’s a bustling market square. Try a local pastry (like Plan Your Trip
