Day 1: Historic Heart & River Magic

Morning (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Start at the Grand Palace (open 8:30 AM, 500 THB entry). Beat the heat and crowds early. Wear covered shoulders/knees. Explore the stunning Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) inside. Exit onto Rattanakosin Island – walk the short distance to Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha, 100 THB entry). Don't miss the massive 46m-long Buddha statue and the traditional Thai massage school.

Afternoon (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM): Lunch at a street food stall near Wat Pho – try pad thai (stir-fried noodles) or boat noodles (boat noodles, rich broth) for 50-70 THB. Walk across the river via the Memorial Bridge to Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). Climb the steep steps for the best views of the Chao Phraya River and Bangkok skyline (50 THB entry). Take photos with the iconic prang (tower) in the background.

Evening (6:30 PM onwards): Dinner at Yaowarat Road in Chinatown (Yaowarat). This is the epicenter for street food. Find stalls serving grilled pork skewers (moo ping), crispy pork belly (kai pad krapow), and mango sticky rice (all 40-80 THB). Wander the vibrant, noisy streets. End with a Chao Phraya River dinner cruise (book online for 300-500 THB, includes dinner and views). Take a Chao Phraya Express Boat from Phaya Thai Pier (BTS Saphan Taksin station) to Thonburi Pier (10-15 THB), then walk to the cruise departure point.

Day 2: Chinatown Buzz & Cultural Depth

Morning (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Chinatown (Yaowarat) early. Skip the touristy stuff and head to Wat Yannawa (20 THB entry) – a unique temple known for its "Buddha footprint" mural. Then, explore the maze of streets around Yaowarat Road – look for colorful shops selling dried seafood and spices. Grab a Thai iced tea (cha yen) from a local stall (20 THB) to sip while exploring.

Afternoon (1:30 PM - 4:30 PM): Lunch at a street food market near Chinatown – try pad see ew (stir-fried noodles with soy sauce) or tom yum goong (spicy shrimp soup) for 60-80 THB. Head to Khao San Road (though it's touristy, it's iconic) for a short walk, but focus on the Old City side for local energy. Visit Wat Pho again if you missed it, or explore Wat Traimit (Temple of the Golden Buddha, 20 THB entry) in Yaowarat – home to a massive 5.5-ton gold Buddha statue.

Evening (7:00 PM onwards): Dinner at Khao San Road – find a stall serving massaman curry (spicy peanut curry) or grilled fish (50-70 THB). After dinner, walk to Wat Arun for evening lighting (20 THB entry). Alternatively, take a long-tail boat tour (150-200 THB for 1 hour) from Chao Phraya River near Wat Arun to see the river at night. End with a Thai dessert like roti (flaky pancake) from a street vendor (30 THB).

Day 3: Modern Vibes & Riverside Charm

Morning (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Take the BTS Skytrain (15-25 THB) from Sukhumvit Station to Asiatique Station. Explore Asiatique The Riverfront – a massive riverside mall with a mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment. See the Golden Buddha statue at the entrance (free). Browse the markets for souvenirs (bargain for 50-100 THB). Get a Thai coffee from a stall (30 THB) while you walk.

Afternoon (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM): Lunch at Asiatique – try grilled pork skewers (moo ping) or vegetable spring rolls (50-70 THB). Head to Sukhumvit Road – walk through the Thong Lo neighborhood for a more local vibe. Visit Wat Ratchanatdaram (Temple of the Water Lotus, 20 THB entry) – known for its modern architecture and peaceful garden. Then, explore Soi Rambuttri for street art and local cafes.

Evening (6:30 PM onwards): Dinner at Thong Lo – find a street food stall serving pad thai or stir-fried rice (khao pad) (50-70 THB). Flavia's Personal Notes — Bangkok

Street food is everything — Yaowarat (Chinatown) at night is the best food experience I've had anywhere. The BTS Skytrain is cheap and air-conditioned. Wat Pho is better than Wat Arun for photos. Khao San Road is for backpackers, not for experiencing Bangkok. Grab taxi app saves you from scam meters.
