Spain’s flight market is brutal for budget travelers. I’ve booked hundreds of trips through 360businesstour.com, and the price swings are insane. You can find amazing deals, but only if you know when to click.
From Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), a round-trip to Madrid (MAD) averages €75-€150 on Vueling. Ryanair flies the same route for €45 one-way if you book 3 months early. I checked last week: a flight from Frankfurt (FRA) to Barcelona (BCN) was €62 on easyJet on a Tuesday.
Don’t expect luxury at these prices. Vueling’s seat pitch is 28 inches, while Ryanair’s is 27 inches. You’ll get a tiny snack but no seat assignment. I’ve seen travelers pay €30 for a carry-on bag on Ryanair – that’s why I avoid them for anything longer than a day trip.

Never fly on Fridays or Sundays. Those dates cost 30% more. I saw a Madrid to Seville (SVQ) flight jump from €40 to €65 just because it was a Friday. Book mid-week for the best rates.
Barcelona (BCN) is the busiest, but it’s a 35-minute train ride from the city center. Madrid (MAD) is better for travelers with connections – it’s a hub for Iberia and Ryanair. The new Terminal 4 at MAD handles most budget airlines, but you’ll wait 45 minutes for security during peak hours.
Consider flying into Valencia (VLC) if you’re heading south. It’s cheaper than Barcelona, and a 20-minute taxi ride to the city costs €15. I’ve used VLC for business trips to Alicante – the flight prices are 20% lower than BCN, and the airport is smaller.
Ryanair’s base fare is €25, but add €10 for a carry-on bag, €25 for a seat, and €15 for a checked suitcase. That’s €75 total for a €25 flight. Vueling charges less: €5 for a carry-on, €10 for a seat, and €15 for a bag. Always read the fine print before booking.
Use Google Flights’ price alerts. I set one for Madrid to Malaga (AGP) and got a €58 flight when it hit €70. Don’t rely on airline websites – they show you their most expensive options first. I’ve saved €100 on a single trip using this trick.
