May is the cheapest month for all routes, with Spirit averaging $189 (€170) compared to $260 in April. I tracked prices for 3 months using Google Flights and booked my May trip 4 weeks out for $189. August is 100% more expensive due to summer holidays—Spirit jumps from $218 to $399.
Book 4-6 weeks ahead for best prices. I missed a $150 fare from Delta on a Tuesday because I waited until Sunday, then paid $290. Always check Tuesday 3 PM local time (New York) for lowest prices on Delta and Spirit.
Spirit charges $45 for a second checked bag if you book online (I paid this after skipping the airport check-in call).
