Spirit’s $60 bag fee is the biggest trap: their website lists "from $99" but the actual cost is $159 for a single bag. I discovered this when trying to check a 10kg carry-on on a March 2025 trip – the $60 fee was added at checkout, not in the initial price. Always add $60 to Spirit fares for realistic budgeting.
